Entry in the register of craftsmen
Source: BUS Rheinland-PfalzThe Crafts Code (HWO) distinguishes between
- the craft requiring a license ,
- trades not requiring a license, and trades similar to trades.
A commercial enterprise is a business of a craft requiring a license if it is operated as a craft and fully comprises a trade. The trade must be listed in Annex A of the Crafts Code (HwO). Activities that are essential to this trade (essential activities) can also be carried out.
Do you intend to independently operate a craft requiring a license as a standing trade? If so, you must have your business entered in the Register of Craftsmen. The following can be registered
- natural and legal persons and
- partnerships.
Standing trades include any commercial enterprise whose activity is not attributable to itinerant trade or market trade. A commercial establishment is not a prerequisite.
You or the person you appoint to manage the business must meet the personal requirements for entry in the Register of Craftsmen if you
- set up a permanent business or
- participate in a business or
- wish to become self-employed together with a partner.
