As a citizen or for your company or as an authority or other public body, you have the right to participate in the preparation of spatial development plans for the German Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) and the entire territory of the Federal Republic of Germany. By participating, you can contribute to the planning process. You can find out how you can participate in the public announcement on the planned spatial development plan. This is provided by the competent authority.

Spatial plans for the exclusive economic zone (EEZ) in the North Sea and Baltic Sea and for the entire territory of the Federal Republic of Germany may contain provisions that:

ensure the safety and ease of shipping traffic
affect other economic uses
protect and improve the marine environment

Spatial development plans can, for example, also contain transnational provisions on flood protection and location concepts for ports and airports.

You can comment on the planned spatial development plan or submit a statement from the public announcement onwards. This should be done online.
Other options for submitting comments can be found in the announcement.
As a public authority or public interest body, you will be contacted by the responsible body if it is determined that you are affected and asked to submit a statement online.
The comments received will be collected and reviewed by the competent authority after the deadline. Other private and public interests are taken into account. The result of the assessment is published on the website of the authority drawing up the plan.
